How much weight can one packer hold?
Under NZS3604, a single stud can only take a load of 10kN. HIANDRI Packers have been compression tested and fail at over 40kN or 4 Tonne.
NO, there is no load on the plate between the studs so there is no reason for the plate to sag. HIANDRI Packers are made from Polypropylene, it is called the steel of plastics; it is very hard and strong and capable of carrying at least 4 times the load that a stud can carry.

YES, however the bottom plates must be fixed using 125mm long Type 17 Buildex 14gauge Bugle head screws – Refer to ‘Installation Manual’.

YES. It can be installed in any location permitted under NZS3604 and NZS1170 and their amendments.
NO. You should place a packer only under every stud at either 400mm or 600mm centres, and also additional packers at all point loads and lintel studs. However, you only require a single packer for double studs for internal doors and a single packer for stud/block/stud situations (ie. Wall intersections) – Refer to ‘Installation Instructions.’

REDUCE POTENTIAL DOWNTIME FOR MINIMAL COST

Stay on time, stay on budget. Hiandri bottom plate packers cut out costly pre-line delays by keeping framing moisture under control. No waiting weeks for timber to dry, no pricey heaters or dehumidifiers slowing things down. Just smoother builds, faster finishes, and long-term savings every homeowner will appreciate.

Installing Hiandri bottom plate packers on a standard 200m² single-storey New Zealand home with 90mm frames adds around $376 + GST. This includes supply and installation of packers ($250 after savings from not needing DPC), plus costs for foam insulation ($80) and longer drive pins ($46). Bolt length requirements generally don’t add cost since most builders already use 135mm bolts. Actual costs may vary depending on design, stud spacing, and frame plant pricing.

Hiandri bottom plate packers can deliver major savings by reducing costly pre-line delays and long-term remedial work. Excess frame moisture often forces builders to either wait weeks or spend $1500–$2000 per week on mechanical drying, plus extra inspection and holding costs. Delays also risk lost labour time. Longer term, excess moisture causes timber movement that leads to screw popping, sheet movement, and repainting. By keeping frames drier, Hiandri lowers these risks and protects both budgets and finishes.
